The Reality of the "Easter Squeeze"
- In Pakistan: Security is tightened as churches become targets for extremist violence during Holy Week. Christians are targeted in many instances in false cases of blasphemy and death sentences.
- In India: Under the “Saffron Squeeze,” house churches in states like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh face increased surveillance by local intelligence units. Peaceful Christian gatherings are attacked with violence and pastors are imprisoned on false charges of conversion.
- In Iran & North Korea: Believers gather in small groups, knowing that one loud worship song or spoken prayer could lead to a prison cell. They can only meet discreetly, and often only a few pages of the Bible are accessible, passed from one believer to another in secret.
These believers, they are not asking for an escape. They are asking for your prayers. They are asking for endurance. They are trusting in the same Risen Christ we celebrate—but they are doing it in the shadows.
